I am a Romanian-born filmmaker, both cinematographer and film director, living in Grand Est region (France).
I finished the grade school in Cinematography, Photography and Media (RO), with a multicultural academic background by having a double scholarships, in South Korea and Turkey. I did a master in Photography and Dynamic Image (RO), with a scholarship in Valencia (SP). I work on documentary films and transdisciplinary projects. My films turns more and more on the body, both as a political representation and also as an inner search. The short documentary film "As You Like It" (about people choosing their photo for their own gravestone) premiered at Karlovy Vary Film Festival and was screened in more than 40 festivals around the world (Dok Leipzig, Tiff Romania, Zagreb Dox etc). Another short film "Sarmale" is part of the international project "Grandmas Project", a web-series quoted in The New York Times. “Still Nia” (an intimate portrait of a woman trying to reconcile with her body and her difficult past through dance) is my first feature film, premiering in Jihlava International Film Fest in 2025. I currently work on my second feature “Unbalanced”- the most personal project so far. My multimedia projects include hybrid, short dance-films, the multimedia installation "Site Under Construction" shown at Venice Biennale - Architecture and the interactive installation "4GenWomen", presented in the National Art Gallery in Prague and other galleries in Turkey, Romania and Spain. |
